Unexpected Scotland stopover
Henceforth I shall stay at hotels which have spas within the facilities, I proclaimed to mother earlier today, after having gone for a swim in the hotel pool. There’s also a hot bubble pool in one corner. Very relaxing after a long day on the town. Afterwards I pampered my body, applying bodylotion provided in the changing rooms which also had tvs.
Unfortunately this luxury comes at a price, even if I did get a very good deal at the Milton Hotel & Leisure Club here in Glasgow through laterooms.com. In Dublin, where we’re going tomorrow, we’ll have to do with a standard 2 star or so hotel.
Because Ryanair changed our flight times we ended up in Scotland for a whole day (no point in spending one night at a hotel – we might as well have a day exploring Glasgow). We’ve spent it walking, window shopping and going to museums. At the McLellan galleries we had a look at some nice Charles Rennie Macintosh chairs and a painting of Vita Sackville-West that we both recognized from books about the Bloomsbury group.
We also had afternoon tea at the Willow Tea Rooms, which are designed by Macintosh.
After my much needed swim/bath we went to a local Wetherspoon’s for dinner and a drink. Now we’re relaxing in the hotel room, having a cuppa and watching tv.
