On my own in the Big Apple

I’m in New York! It’s been a long day. Though it’s only dinnertime here, my body knows it as midnight.
The flight was long, but SAS provides good service. Individual screens with quite a few movies to choose from. One really cool feature was that they had cameras showing the view ahead and below. You can actually watch the takeoff and landing from the pilot’s point of view.

So far I haven’t seen much of the city, but I’m already loving it. I found a Starbuck’s next door to the hostel. :-) And across the street there’s a Border’s bookstore. That’s where I’m going at 18.30, to listen to the editor of Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate dictionary. He’ll discuss the process of picking which words to include in the latest edition. Seems like just the thing on a night as this.

I bought Time Out’s guide to New York, so I’ve some studying to do tonight. If I don’t fall asleep right after the thing at Border’s, that is.
