Dimmed lights, flickering flames
I lit seven lanterns and comforted myself into my favourite chair
watched them flicker with the autumn winds reaching in through the balcony glass
sipping Martini Bianco I let the night sing to me a blue and rusty song about a summer gone by and the colder times ahead
and I sang back quietly
reaching out to the lights of suburbia saying look, mine are alive, watch them burn with intent
why don’t you get inspired and show me that you, too, have a soul
