Automated storytelling
Narrative Science is a company that provides automated storytelling from big data. For instance it has partnered with ProPublica to give easy access to information about the nation’s high schools. The automated narrative motor, Quill, has gone through this nation wide data and provides automated stories for each high-school, like this one.
It is not a threat to journalism, says Narrative Science CTO Kris Hammond in this clip, simply because journalism doesn’t deal with stories that appeal to a very small number of people. At the same time, these automated stories can be very important to those few people.
