Certain things you come across time and time again. They can be reminders of what path you are meant to travel, or warnings to stay away.
Like Frank Lloyd Wright on the latest US trip. He kept appearing wherever we went. Circle Gallery in SF, Taliesin West in Phoenix, books about him, calendars, people mentioning him, a program about him being on when we visited Phil and Marjorie in Portland. And, somehow connected to him, if not through Howard Roarke then through some similar mindset, Ayn Rand.
The past couple of days I have been reminded of her again. Yesterday, for inspiration, I picked up a thick volume of her letters, reading some 20 pages or so. Then today, on the way home, as I was reading in my £1 paperback I picked up at the Works in Norwich, suddenly there’s this entire chapter about Objectivism and Ayn Rand.
So now, of course, I’m trying to get the message. I think I very well might be travelling the right path. Or, the only other seems to be short term and not very productive. I am not sure I am strong enough for that, or that it would even be worth it.
It might be age… but I am starting to get used to the idea of compromises.
